I’ve been using Microsoft Digital Image Standard Editor now discontinued for several years on my desktop. It has a lot more options than Paint and the basic photo manipulation tools in Windows7 that I’ve seen. Can I copy it to my new laptop with Windows7 to use there, too? If not, what are some comparable software packages I can look at that aren’t as expensive as going the whole way up to PhotoShop? From where did you buy it? Do you have the setup files of that software?

You cannot just copy it from your old computer to new laptop with windows 7. You have to install it using its setup file. Customers will receive product support for up to three years from purchase date or through January 13, , whichever date is reached first.

Right click on the setup file.

Go to properties. Click on Compatibility mode. Place a check mark on “Run as an Administrator” under privileges level and click on Apply and then Ok. Now double click on the setup file to initiate the install.

I would also recommend you to download Windows Live Gallery which is a new Imaging suite from Microsoft and it’s free to download.
